Service seminar inspires Perkins dealers in China

Perkins appointed distributor Elco Power gathered its team of trusted Chinese service dealers together to talk strategy, opportunities and exciting product news.

Foshan Sime Darby Elco Power Equipment Ltd has become a trusted associate for many Chinese businesses, after becoming the first appointed distributor of Perkins products in the country back in 1988.

With 18 local branches operating throughout south and southwest China, Elco brought the full team together for a sixth successive service dealer seminar in Lijiang city, Yunnan province.

Elco’s general manager Billy Lui presided over the event, with a representative from each of the 18 dealers in attendance. Special guests from the Perkins business were Asia Pacific distributor development manager Janet Zhang, North Asia parts manager Rachel Chen and service manager Heaton Wang.

Trends, tech and tactics

A lively agenda included presentations from Elco on developments in its business, emerging trends in the industrial, gas and marine engines market, and the company’s marketing strategy for engines and aftermarket. Keynote speakers from Perkins went on to explain the company’s meticulous approach to appointing and supporting its distributors.

The 18 branch representatives also took to the stage to share their experiences, while the team’s top performers and newest dealers picked up awards and certificates.

A major highlight of the event was the announcement of two new innovative aftermarket products, the Perkins® My Engine App and Perkins® SmartCap, which will be launched in China in the fourth quarter of 2018. These products greatly improve the experience of anyone using Perkins engines, by giving them access to valuable engine information direct to their phones.

Elco continues to develop its network of dealers in south and southwestern China. Each one is responsible for providing engine and aftermarket solutions, maintenance and other services to local customers.

Bauma China, Shanghai, November 27-30, 2018

Perkins returns to Bauma China 2018 to underline the importance of the China market to the company. Perkins experts will be at the show to answer the questions of Chinese original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and other customers, to help them determine the best way forward to adapt their machines to meet the emission requirements of the local and export markets. A strong aftermarket presence ensures the full Perkins offer will receive a boost.
